Beril Eski is a multiple award-winning journalist based in Istanbul. She is a regular contributor to The Washington Post and has worked with The New York Times, The Guardian, Politico, and The New Humanitarian among others over the past decade.

Since 2019, Eski has focused on investigative journalism. She shared a Pulitzer and George Polk Award in 2024 with The New York Times for their coverage of the war in Gaza. She also won The New York Times Publisher’s Award in 2023 for coverage of the earthquakes in Turkey and received the Overseas Press Club Award in 2021 with an investigative team from ABC News and Reveal looking into the murder of an American-Syrian journalist and her mother.

Eski also co-authored a book about the experiences of women and queer asylum seekers in Turkey. 

Born and raised in Turkey, she is fluent in Turkish and English and is currently studying Arabic.
